Thoughts of an Urban Educator: Autumn 2020

It’s so interesting to see how this year is unfolding. If things had gone my way I should’ve been in Romania on a mission trip. Or had things followed my original backup plan, I should’ve been in a whole other school, starting the school year with a whole different set of kids.

I find that thought comforting, because obviously as I first year teacher, at a new school, during a pandemic, I often wonder, “What on earth am I doing?” But God wanted me to be the teacher of the specific students I’m working with this Fall.

The point is God has a plan and it’s bigger than mine. On this Feast Day of the Archangels I pray each child’s angel looks after them. I cling to God promise like ivy, “…You will see greater things than these.” God promises that He will work wonders. All I need you do is call upon the Lord and He will build up strength within me (Psalm 130).

I cling to His promise

Like Ivy.
